Mehdi Allahiari, Chemistry Graduate Student at Sharif University of Technology ArrestedOn Monday December 7, 2009, Mehdi Allahiari, a chemistry graduate student at Sharif University of Technology was arrested by the intelligence ministry agents and transferred to an unknown location. Since yesterday, his family visited various government institutions, until finally, the intelligence ministry confirmed his arrest. According to the report from Democracy and Human Rights Activists, Mehdi Allahiari, a 29 year old freedom and equality seeking student, was also arrested last year in a raid by intelligence ministry agents. He was jailed in the 209 wing of Evin Prison. He was released on a large bail. After his release and return to school, he was expelled from the university's dormitory. Mr. Allahiari was recently prosecuted in branch 28 of the Revolution Court, headed by an individual named Moghisei, who has been a member of the Death Commission of the 1367 massacre of political prisoners, and was sentenced to two years of suspended imprisonment. © CFPPI 2009-2010 |
