Leftist Student from Amir Kabir University ArrestedMohammad Yousef Rashidi, leftist student from Amir Kabir University who was arrested last November in Noshahr, was transferred to section 209 of Evin Prison where he started a hunger strike. The Prisoners Unit of the Human Rights Activists in Iran reports that Mohammad Yousef Rashidi, suspended student of Polytechnic University of Tehran was arrested while at his father's house during the November 4th protests. He restarted his hunger strike to protest his illegal detention and placement in solitary confinement without declaring any charges. Rashidi was sent three times to the prison clinic because of his two hunger strikes within a short period. Authorities of the Intelligence Ministry say he is charged with taking part in illegal gatherings. It is noteworthy that he had an important role in students protesting the presence of Ahmadinejad in his university and he was suspended ever since Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave his speech in Polytechnic university. When Ahmadinejad was giving a speech, Rashidi raised a placard that said: "Fascist President, Polytechnic is not your place." © CFPPI 2009-2010 |
