03 Jul 2010 Campaign to Free Political Prisoners in Iran Authorities in Karaj’s Rajai Shahr Prison have extended Behrouz Javid Tehrani’s time in solitary confinementHRANA – Authorities in Karaj’s Rajai Shahr Prison have extended Behrouz Javid Tehrani’s time in solitary confinement at the request of the Ministry of Intelligence. Although he has spent over a month in solitary confinement, authorities have been ordered to keep Javid Tehrani confined in solitary until at least after the anniversary of the 1999 student protests (July 9). Political prisoner Behrouz Javid Tehrani is detained in Ward 1 of Rajai Shahr Prison. He was transferred to solitary confinement on May 31, 2010 for unknown reasons. The date of release out of solitary confinement is not specified. Javid Tehrani was arrested after the July 1999 University of Tehran protests. He has spent over a month in solitary confinement under poor conditions. Prison authorities have refused to provide him with any medication. He is permitted to use the bathroom once a day and to shower once a week.
